Ambis

So, like I said on my last post, I'm only posting here when I feel inspired and, lo and behold, I was very inspired today. I started doing ambigrams on occasion back in my last year of highschool.

For those not familiar with ambigrams, they are words that are written in a way that when you turn it upside down, it still reads the same word.

Here are the most recent ones.

Definition of the Aver:
-to assert or affirm with confidence; declare in a positive or peremptory manner.
-to state positively; assert
-to allege as a fact or prove to be true

Final version. But, I wasn't satisfied. So, I tried to see another way of writing it.

Here's the result. I like this one better than the first. It has a better flow, it seems.

This next one was inspired by the films Boondock Saints 1 and 2. On the hands of the 2 main characters, are tattoos that says VERITAS(truth) and AEQUITAS(equality). I've been itching to get a new tattoo, and I figured I'd do a two word ambigram. This is my first 2 word ambigram, so it need a little bit more work.

So, when you read it this way, it says the word VERITAS.

And when you turn it upside down, it says AEQUITAS.

I still need to clean it up and maybe work the middle of the word to see if I can write it another way. Anyways, this is it for now.

Finding myself.

This blog was meant to keep records of the art works I do in school and on my spare time. These past six months have been really tough on so many levels. In the process of all the shit falling from sky and being cursed by the gods, I've realized that I don't see myself in Art as a career. Don't get me wrong, I love everything and anything ART and I will keep drawing and maybe do things on the side, but that's about it. To draw, to paint, to illustrate is very personal to me. Only when I'm inspired am I able to work on something and be committed. This is the main reason why I don't see myself in it as a career. I can't have a boss give me a time limit to work on my art, whether it's a logo or a design of something. Friends asking me to design something is different. I'm always inspired to draw and design for family. It's disappointing, but that's the truth.

Here's the kicker, I've realized that I want to be a photojournalist. I love the art in taking photos, to be able to tell a story through an image, to impact and reflect the lives of others and to educate people about the things that are going on in this world. Enough said, I've started a new blog in effect of this new goal of mine.

averphoto.blogspot.com

This new blog is going to be more personal. You'll be able to take a peak in what's happening in my life. A photo-journal of some sort.

Anyways, this blog will still be maintained. I will still be posting works, but it will be on the occasions when I feel like it, when I'm not lazy and most importantly, when I'm INSPIRED.

Look 'ma, I found myself.

Sick today. Skipped work.

Found a piece of paper that I used to do ink swatches on when I was working on the exhibition. So it was pretty messy with ink all over it. I just kinda started doodling with a pen and I've been drawing nothing but skulls for the past few days so I just started drawing them.
By the way, I hate being sick, I don't get sick often but when I do, it hits me like a like storm.
Anyways, enjoy another penism.
Sorry for the bad pictures. Had to take this pictures with my camera because the whole paper didn't fit my scanner.
Later.

Stuff.

Here are the stuff I was working on. It was awesome making all of these. It wasn't what the people who asked me to them expected, so i'm gonna be working on whole new set of drawings pretty soon. All these were made on illustrator and you can find the pencil sketches of these images HERE. So, for now, enjoy my beloved rejects.

Pen-ism

Pen sketch of Stephen King when my English teacher was giving a lecture on The Walk, one of Stephen King's books. And on the right is a girl from my past humanities class.
